Love These!

I love this bible study I am currently doing with an amazing group of ladies. For those of you who haven't heard of Angela Thomas, she is worth checking out. She is one of the most "for real" women I have ever heard teach God's word, and beyond easy to follow and understand. It is a dvd and a workbook format. I love how God knows exactly what we need at exactly the right time in our walk. This book is great and I highly recommend it for a bible study; very little homework, but very purposeful. It has me rethinking a lot of what I am doing in my life and why I am doing it.

I just finished reading this book that my friend Tiffany loaned to me. It was awesome! God has used Robin McGraw's words to speak truth to me that I needed to hear this week. I love how she consistently encourages women throughout the book to make deliberate choices-choices that will lead to a better, happier life. I want to make choices that will better my marriage, my children's lives, my health and my happiness. It is a great read if you want a little inspiration in your life.

I am also currently trying to read "A Voice in the Wind" by Francine Rivers. I have read two of her other books and loved them. I am only on the 2nd chapter and finding it hard to get into because I haven't been reading much fiction lately. I want to read a balance of fiction and non-fiction. I am usually drawn to personal growth type books, but I want to get out of my comfort zone and expand my mind with a little historical fiction.

On a side note, Skip and I are praying about possible putting our home on the market. I know that it is a buyers market and it may be difficult, but we both would love to get into a one-story home with a lower payment. I love this home and I feel like it was such a blessing when we got it, but since Skip's hip surgery he hasn't ventured upstairs once. We are just praying about it, but both of us are fine with moving. We touched up paint tonight in the kitchen and living room and tomorrow I am going to clean some baseboards and walls. Yucky, I hate deep cleaning.

That's about it except my cute little nine yr. old son said the funniest thing earlier to Skip. They were setting up a microphone in my bedroom to record a report he has to perform at school tomorrow. He told Skip, "Dad, do you have the mike set up yet? Good, now let's make some magic." He is getting so funny, just like his daddy. He is also obsessed with football. I have never learned so many stats about pro and college players as I have this season. I am already praying for his future wife who will have to be a football fan. He even had to wear his A&M football jersey for picture day at school today. I let him because I want to remember this year as the year he discovered a love of football. I love that sweet little boy!

I'm right in the middle of Robin McGraw's book. She's such an amazing lady, I knew it would be a great book and it is.

And I just finished the complete Mark of the Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers. Voice in the Wind, the first one and the one you're reading, was a little difficult for me to get into but mostly because the cruelty of the Romans was a shock for me and hard to read. I'm so glad I read this trilogy - it comnpletely changed the way I talk to God on a daily basis now.

Yep. Your little boy sounds like a chip off his daddy's block. Let's make some magic. How cute is that!

Great book suggestions, Susie. I'm especially interested in what Robin McGraw has to say, so I'll need to go find that one!

Your boy sounds like quite the little comic.

Keep praying about your house. The Lord sold our house once when EVERY house in the neighborhood had been on the market for over 6 months. It was a bad time to sell, but GOD intervened, and we received 2 offers on the 12th day that our house was on the market. It was a real testimony to our neighbors.

Your the opposite of me. I get way more out of a well written Christian Fiction book than trying to slog through non-fiction teaching books. I need to find the balance in the other direction. I've a couple of my fall reading challenge list.

I saw Angela Thomas speak at The Women of Faith Conference in Calgary this summer. Pretty powerful!

The Bible Study sounds wonderful. I just discovered Angela Thomas's website a few months ago. I love the way the Lord puts into our lives exactly what we need at just the right moment.
There seem to be lots of trying to sell these days. I'll pray for you, and you pray for us!!
I love little boys. Of course I love little girls too, but there is just something so special about the way they are just exactly who they are. What you see is what you get, and they are so adorable - especially at that age. I remember wishing I could freeze my boys at about that age. I just didn't want anything to change. sigh.... But they are both wonderful young men now, and I love them dearly.

Why did I not realize before that you have a 9 year old son? Mine is 10 so I can totally relate! (Guess I'm a bit slow. :-) )

Thanks for the heads up on the books. I am also up for a good read (if I can just find the time... now that's another story).

Keep us posted on the house situation so we will know how to pray!

The books your reading sound good. I like personal growth books too but I did buy one fiction christian book to try to read but not sure if I will be able to get into or not. I like books that are real to me that have a meaning. Good luck with putting your house on the market. God will get you through selling your home. We have been there and done that. We are not quite ready to buy a home here yet. Maybe next year.

I"ve learned alot with the bible study that we are doing and the Robin Mcgraw book. When you tie in those two book together, it makes sence that we have a choice. That is such a powerful word-- CHOICE!! I know that God will bless your sell of your house and I know he has the perfect plan and house already in place.

Great recommendations. Angela Thomas was wonderful in person- she's so solid and offers wonderful insight, doesn't she?
I love the story about your son- I will admit I am a little intimidated since our kids are in the same class. I'm sure he and Skip did 'make some magic'! He is quite a witty child, he comes up with things that surprise me!
