Almost Perfect Weekend

Well, other than the Cowboys loss today; it was almost a perfect weekend. Bill Bates was awesome! He spoke at all 6 of our weekend services, and did an outstanding job. Skip picked him up from the airport yesterday and had the pleasure of getting some one-on-one time with this amazing Christian man. For Skip, getting to talk to a former Dallas Cowboy was a treasure he will never forget. I even got to ride with him as we drove him to his hotel last night after church. He was too tired to go out, so some of our friends set him up with the best prime rib in town from Katz. Seth, my son, had the opportunity to ride with Skip and Mr. Bates this morning on the way to church. Seth said that they talked about college football games that were played yesterday. Seth was pretty bummed that the Aggies lost by one point. If you want to see the service (minus music because of copyright laws), you can go to our BAF website Monday and it should be up. We probably had almost 1000 visitors and a total of 5000 people attend this weekend. It was amazing to see so many people there that love the Cowboys, and then receive the message of Jesus Christ. I can't wait to see how many salvations occurred. My in-laws drove in for church along with my brother-in-law, his wife, and the kids. It was so fun! After church I took the kids to Applebees where we watched part of the Cowboy games (before they lost).
*The picture above is the kids with Bill Bates. Ashley is in some sort of trance it seems. There was about 100 people in line behind me, so I didn't get a picture with him. He signed each of their shirts, a Cowboy cap, and a picture. Everyone I talked to this weekend was quite impressed with how friendly he was. FYI- He now lives in Jacksonville, Florida where he helps coach his 3 sons in football. Their high school is Nease High School and is 10 and 0 this year. Last year they were 4A state champs. I guess so if you have Bates boys on the team.
*One more thing, this is probably the last football post you will ever see me do. It really hurts my brain to think in this foreign world of men.

What a blessing to have Bill Bates there at your church. I'm so glad so many people attended. I'm sure many lives were deeply touched.
I know what you mean about football. I'm usually reading a book while my husband watches the game. I absorb enough by "osmosis" to be able to talk half-way intelligently about football, but I don't really get interested until the playoffs.
I do know that T.O. is a big loser though :-)

How exciting for all of you! What a thrill for the whole family. So sorry your team lost (rats!).

You crack me up...you're right, Ashley does look like she's in a trance...but a very CUTE trance. *smile*

BTW~Emily got a note from her and it seems they have "American Girl" stuff in common. How sweet is that?

You crack me up! My favorite thing about football was sleeping on the couch on Sundays after eating my weight in queso!!

Glad you guys had a good time and fabulous on the people that turned out. Even if it changed just one life (which I 'm sure God spoke to more than that) it's all worth it!

That was a wild weekend. It's amazing how the chruch was able to get Bill Bates there. I know alot of people were affected by his talk. I know I was and I'm a girl. LOL!!! Hey if we can get Bill Bates does that mean we can get ummmmmm--- Beth Moore, or some other gal that is hip and has passion for God? Now, that would bring the house down.
My dad was even excited about us having a Dallas Cowboy weekend at our church and that was thrilling just to hear him say that. Now I just have to actually bring him to a service. Great weekend!!!!!

What an awesome picture of your three so, so very cute kids with Bill Bates! You ought to frame that one. :)

What a turn out! That is just amazing! He was such a good sport to hang in there for that long, it must have just been a labor of love from a truly awesome Christian man. Wow, he's got a great high school record too. What an inspirational coach those kids have.

Loved your little tail end comment, guess you can rest your wiery brain now...too funny!

How nice for all of you. In the photo, he just looks like a very nice man. What a great treat for all of you and your congregation.

Your last remark about trying to think in the world of men cracked me completely up. I couldn't possibly agree more. :-)

I am glad you had a good time and that it was a success. I have to tell you, my dear friend :0), that we were bummed that our team won by only ONE point! Boomer Sooner is one of our favorite songs around here! But please don't tell your son that, I don't want him to hate me!
