Under Attack: At Least Our Feet Are

What you are about to read is completely true though it may seem a little made up. On Sunday night Annie, was hopping and running around as she usually does before bed, and not looking where she was going. She tripped right over her sister's tennis shoe and sprained her ankle. Not to hurt Ashley's feelings, but that girl of mine has some big shoes. We took her into the doctor on Monday and had it x-rayed. It wasn't broken. Praise God! She had it wrapped in a splint and ace bandage and went to school the next day. Well, last night Ashley went to ballet class. As I was waiting outside to pick her up, I saw her hopping towards me on one foot. She was crying and said that she heard her foot snap when she did a turn. I thought to myself, "Are you kidding me? " Then I said to her, "I'm sure you just twisted it and it will be fine." We put ice on it and had her rest, but I knew by the way she was crying we would probably need to take her in the next day. Well, Skip took her to the doc today and sure enough, it's broken. The break is about 1 inch under her pinky toe and they put her in a special shoe to wear for 4-6 weeks. They can't do a cast because of where the break occured. She is on crutches and staying home for the day. I thought she might as well get one day off for the pain she endured. This sure sounds like an attack on the feet to me. I prayed for Seth before he went to school today and told him, "Be careful!" Is this weird or what?

Yes it's weird. Poor little things. Nothing hurts worse. And can you imagine if he hurts his foot, too? It really would be the attack on the feet.

I hope they both get better soon and yes, I think Ashley deserved at least one day home from school.

I've had the same expericence with one child down and the other to follow suite. I hope they both heal quickly.

It sure is weird. However, at least they can sympathize with each other - in a sisterly sort of way. I hope they heal quickly.

Oh, girl, I'm so sorry about your baby's foot! It's painful but will heal quickly.

Emily broke her foot back when she was only 2. It was ackward giving her a bath with her leg hanging over the edge, but we managed.

I pray that Annie recuperates very quickly with a minimum of pain!

Good grief, I just re-read this and see that BOTH of your girls hurt their feet.

Guess I was NOT as awake as I thought when I initially read this and left a comment this morning.I thought that Annie twisted her ankle and then later heard the pop. Sorry 'bout that!

I hope BOTH of your girls heal quickly...and I pray peace for you and Skip and protection over all of you.

Gee, and I always thought ballerina's wore steel toed ballet shoes. lol

Hope both girls are feeling better and glad she has a walking shoe. Crutches are a pain. :)

I read the new devotional blog. Very cute! Loved the recipe box. Will be back for more. Thanks for sharing! :)

I am so sorry for both of them! I have a habit of breaking my toes (yes, it's true-I am a klutz- once when I was 7 months pregnant!) so I know it really hurts. I will pray for them to heal quickly and not be in pain. That is strange. My sister and I both had leg surgeries (for different reasons) when we were growing up, and both of our doctors later had plane crashes!

I will check out the devotional blog, and while I am going to read the rest of your latest posts, I can tell you right now that blogger is not cooperating with me on comments right now, so please know that I am reading what you wrote. Then I am off to bed! I'll probably see you tomorrow or over the weekend, so have a good one! :0)

That shoe helps a lot. I broke a toe skimboarding on Halloween day and it hurt putting on heels for my costume that night! It was worth it though. I got a proposal for marriage...

How did I ever miss this post? My goodness. Praying both your girl's heal up very quickly. My oldest fractured a bone in her foot in rugby last year so I know what that's like for you and your girl. Mine, though, refused to wear that shoe. Sigh.
