A Day at the Beach

The kids and I began the day with a little math, a little history, and a little reading. We had every intention of completing a full day of home schooling, but ...we heard the seagulls calling us, then we felt the breezes and the waves whispering, "Come and play. You won't regret it." (I know I'm being a little silly, but we ARE right in the middle of reading Prince Caspian and this dialog seemed so appropriate.) Guess what? We didn't regret it. In fact, the waves were so huge and the wind was perfect for the kite surfers who entertained us with all their tricks. Living by the beach is so cool (except if a hurricane comes our way of course).

Here are some of the pics of our day.
Ash and Seth hanging out by the shore.
This was the look on Annie's face most of the afternoon.
Check out her ears. I finally gave in and let her get them pierced. Too cute!

There were 4 kite surfers doing all kinds of flips and tricks. I have never seen it so windy. I would have got a better shot, but my beach chair was just way too comfortable. Just kidding, it was just hard to get a shot because they go by so fast. Kite surfing looks like so much fun, and maybe one day I'll have to give it a try. Ha Ha!

Do they look like they would have rather stayed home for their grammar lessons?

So glad y'all are getting settled and finding some semblance of routine.

I think is one part of the routine you need to repeat frequently!

Who says you can't be educated by a day at the beach. If nothing else, they learned they have one cool mommy who loves them very much.

They may not have had grammar, but this would count as PE so school still done! :-)

Glad you took the time to just enjoy such a time as that! I'm thinking you won't regret it for some time to come! :-)

Hmmm, beach, grammer, beach, grammer. Which one?

Well, I'd say they were having phys. ed., physics (watching the kite flying), and biology (oceans, tides, waves). Me thinks they got lots of schooling! ;v)

You guys look like you had a blast!!! I miss the heat! Actually, it's supposed to warm up to 90 degrees this weekend and I can't wait. I haven't wore spring clothes since I got here.

Matt shot an amazing scene today and I wish you could be here to experience this. It's amazing!

I love you,

Debbie

You know I grew up in C.C. and these pics SO took me back to a wonderful childhood! I promise they will never ever forget these fun times! Oh, I just LOVE this post. (And you SHOULD try the kite surfing! I remember doing it as a kid; it was A BLAST. Of course, that's when I was about 10 and limber. :-) )
