I Think She Rocks!

Rarely have I ever mentioned anything political on this blog. I'm just not that into politics, but I do have some pretty strong convictions of my own. This new VP running mate for McCain not only has some strong convictions, she blew me away yesterday with her speech I watched live. She was AMAZING! I could not have been more pleased with the direction the Republicans chose to take.

On a side note, Skip and I were discussing how slick the democratic campaign was with their list of musical guests. We saw they had Bon Jovi, Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder and one of my favorites Sheryl Crow. They also have a huge list of celebs supporting him.

We decided to see who will be rocking the house at the Republican Convention and I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it is mostly country artists. They will have superstars like Gretchen Wilson, Charlie Daniels, LeAnn Rimes and John Rich who is doing a new song "Raising McCain". Isn't there one rock or pop band that will stand up for the conservatives? This made me laugh because I think rock in essense kind of goes against the whole premise of conservatism. Anyway, it would be nice to see someone like Duran Duran singing a little song called "Wild Boys" to get the crowd going. Just a dream, but luckily I love me some good ole' country music.

I proud to be a Texan and I'm proud to see Sarah Palin, a mother of five, come alongside of John McCain and shake things up a bit. As an added plus, she is from Alaska which is the most beautiful place on earth. I wouldn't be able to confirm that since the closest I've ever been to heaven is Estes Park, Colorado.

Now tell me, what did you think of Mrs. Sarah Palin? Be Nice!

I'm with you, Susie, everything I've been reading and seeing is overwhelmingly positive. She's a mom, and she's got a list of achievements a mile long. Best of all, her political career began with the PTA.

I say, "Go Sarah!!" Awesome choice, McCain.

As for the rockers supporting conservatives, I was so sad to see Bon Jovi at the wrong convention. Such a waste of great music.

I am excited about Governor Palin also. I saw part of her speech and was very impressed.

I've thought of not listening to the musicians or watching the actors because of different issues they've supported that I was vehemently against, but have come to the conclusion that I would be able to listen to very little and watch almost nothing!

Yesterday, for the first time during this campaign season I felt a bit of excitement. I am delighted with McCain's choice of Gov. Palin. Time will tell, but she seems to be someone I can really support, and that makes me feel a bit more comfortable about Sen. McCain.

I wonder if Sarah Palin is related to the hilarious Monty Python guy, Michael Palin. Maybe he'd become the press secretary and press hearings would become hilarious.

I like the first line of your 4th paragraph. Not only you be proud to be Texan, you proud to use ebonics to be proclaimin'. :)

Is it wierd that I got a little emotional when this was announced? As much as I was completely opposed to ANYTHING Hillary said, there was the small woman part of me that kinda wanted her to "break the glass ceiling." How much better will it be when a christian, conservative mom does it? Yeah Sarah!

I'm with you as well. I'm totally on game now. She has my attention!! I'm not one to get into politics as well. But now , I'm listening. Can you imagine how this is going to change the world for us Gals? Our daughters!!! I"m inspired. If Sarah can be V.P. with 5 kids and baby with D.S. and has done and yet to do with her life. My gosh, what are we complaining about? We can do it too. This Rocks!!!

I really lost it when she said her son would be leaving for Iraq on September 11th. I instantly felt compassion for her. I am so excited about this election now and I WILL campaign for McCain/Palin. Sarah is someone we can relate to as a Christian and as a wife & mother. I'm Thrilled!!!

Love her. Love the guns, love kids, love that she's smokin' hot and hasn't set aside her femininity to fit in with the boys. Love her mama bear style. One quote I heard was that Alaska was littered with bodies of people who have crossed her. I love that we may be able to get to our oil. Love that she's married to "every man" Love that someone like her might do something by just being who God made her to be, when Hillary has been striving for this her whole life and still missed the mark. Also, pro-life, anti-gay marriage. I could go on and on.

As a Canadian, I realize I prob don't have a right to an opinion, but I'll express a concern anyways. I too, listened to her speech and was very impressed. I thot..'wow, she must be pretty good to have risen so far, so quickly in the political area...so, I googled her to find out more...it was there that I found out that just 4 short months ago she gave birth to a Downs syndromn child. My concern is this sweet child that the Lord has seen fit to bless her with, a child that even more than a non-special needs child, needs its mama every moment. I know that children with Downs need a lot of therapy to work their muscles, they need a lot of work just to do the things that other babes do easily....wont his mama be awfully busy doing the campaign trail and if she's elected, being Vice President to give her child the one on one attention that he needs. I realize that others can also do this job...like his daddy...but small babes need their mama too. Just a thot....please don't think me unkind.
