Graduation is here!

I have been in a very reflective mood this afternoon. I am first of all in disbelief that my baby is graduating from Kindergarten tomorrow and two days later my niece will be graduating from high school. My sister and I are very close and talk daily. I really haven't even thought to ask her how she must be feeling about her daughter's graduation. I am sad about Annie's milestone and she still has many more years under my guidance. I can only imagine the tears that will fall when she puts on a cap and gown in 12 years. My prayer is that Skip and I give her the best possible example of Christ that we can. I want her to know what a godly home looks and feels like. I want her to see the power in prayer, the faith that comes through obedience and the love that only God can comfort her with. Now, a note for my sister. You have done such an amazing job with Stephanie. She is beautiful inside and out. I love her personality and her love for family and friends. You also taught her about Jesus and that is what is most important. Well done my sister, my friend.

Great Fiesta!

The Fiesta shower was so much fun. Beautiful Kara on the left, me in the middle, and Captivating Michelle(bride-to-be) on the right sat for a minute to pose before cleaning up. Michelle and Bart(not pictured) are the sweetest couple, and I pray they have a wonderful marriage. The best part of the shower to me was when everyone took turns to give their Godly advice for a successful marriage. It was so refreshing to my own ears to hear the sweet words of encouragement poured out on this loving couple. My other favorite part of the shower was the food, of course. MEXICAN!!! If anyone wants to add any marriage advice that has been beneficial to you and your spouse, comment on.

My Sweet Boy

I was looking through some old pictures today and realized how much my son looks like me. He is the middle child and the only one with brown hair and brown eyes. The girls were both born with green eyes and they were blond at birth like Skip. I am also the middle child in my family with a sister and brother with blue eyes and blond hair. I look like my daddy. I just found that interesting.

Casa Ole Dip Dips into the Pocketbook

I love Casa Ole chili con queso, so I looked up the recipe on the web. I made a list of the ingredients and set off to my home away from home(HEB Plus). It calls for 5lbs. of grated American cheese. I don't know about you but I would pay a dollar more a package just so I don't have to go to the trouble of grating. Well, they didn't have plain grated American cheese so I had to buy the blocks. They were $3.69 a lb. That is one expensive cheese. Anyway, I was not going to buy that many lbs. at that price so I got one bag of velvetta shreds and one mexican blend that was grated too, and then 3lbs. of American. I hope it turns out okay. My husband, the chef, can turn anything into a delicious dish. Anyway, don't mean to bore anyone with my shopping experience, but that is my life today. I did, however, have the best book study meeting today with my beautiful Captivating ladies. We finished the book and we just had to praise God for the work he did in each of our lives. It is amazing what individual stories of growth we all have. We are having a celebration brunch next week, and I am going to miss them like crazy. It is good that we will still see each other at church and get together once a month. I love each of you ladies so much.

Convert Master Bedroom Into Family Room?

I am totally joking, but the idea is realistic at this household. It never fails that the children are where we are. Our bedroom is pretty big so we keep the computer in there. Skip also tends to have a keyboard or mic set up a lot of the time. And yes, we also have a TV in there. Shame on me, I know. I can't remember why we have four bedrooms when they spend so little time in them. I take that back. Ashley does spend time in her room drawing, writing or talking on the phone. Seth at times plays his PS2 in his room and Annie on occasion plays Barbies in her's. However, it never fails from 6:00pm till baths and bed, they are with us. Skip thinks it is because we have a two story house now and they are tired of going up and down the stairs. That sounds pretty weak to me. I guess this will soon change as they mature, so I better enjoy it while it lasts.

Coffee Anyone?

I am hosting a couple's shower this weekend and I am in deperate need. I use inexpensive coffee for everyday, but I want to try something more interesting for the party. Any ideas anyone? I already have the flavored creamers which are yummy, but real coffee drinkers like their's black. Help!

Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

There have been so many times I have wanted to post on blogger accounts but haven't been able because I use Typepad and don't have a blogger account. Well, now I do. I'm not sure if I want to start my own blog because it is fun doing one with my husband, and he won't have many posts if I leave our shared one. Who knows?
